The Starburst Bandits try to make the sun go nova, but the Legion has something to say about it.
The Legion of Super-Heroes try to get assistance from Brainiac 5, who has been committed into a mental institution, in helping Matter-Eater Lad's own insanity, but he is unable to help. Still trying to find ways to help Matter-Eater Lad, the Legion leave and deal with a crisis in the form of the Starburst Bandits, criminal who ride upon horses on fire. The Legion do their best and finally defeat their foe. Meanwhile, R.J. Brande faces utter bankruptcy.
